Want some free Music?

From: http://torrentfreak.com/sxsw-2009-on-bittorrent-6-gb-of-free-music-090312/

The South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival is one of the largest and most popular in the United States. For the fifth year in a row, SXSW has released a DRM-free, RIAA-safe collection of songs totaling 6 GB, which can all be downloaded for free, thanks to BitTorrent.

sxsw 2009For some of the previous editions, SXSW itself has offered torrents showcasing the artists scheduled to perform at the festival. Starting last year, however, SXSW stopped releasing a torrent of their own.

Since all of the mp3s are available for download on the festival’s site, it only takes one person to get a torrent up and running. Last year it was Greg Hewgill who took the time and effort to put all the MP3s into one big torrent ( http://hewgill.com/sxsw/ ) , and for the 2009 edition Ben Stolt did the same ( http://sites.google.com/site/sxsw2009torrent/ ).

Since there’s over 6 GB of DRM-free music, using torrents makes it much easier than laboriously downloading every MP3 separately. In addition, using BitTorrent instead of the server based system saves SXSW money in bandwidth costs. The good news is that, for once, the RIAA isn’t watching over your shoulder when downloading music.

There are three torrents for the 23rd SXSW edition which contain a record breaking 1267 MP3s of both upcoming, as well as established artists who will appear at this year’s festival. Needless to say there should be something to suit everyone’s tastes, and all in all it’s a great way to expand your horizons and discover new and upcoming artists, all for free.

This year’s SXSW music festival takes place from March 18-22 in Austin Texas. All the tracks released for the previous editions are also still available for those people who want to fill up their iPod without having to invest thousands of dollars.

Wrote Today

Last few days I've been working on outlines, pitches, and character development. All in all fairly boring and I haven't really been doing much with it all.

Soo... Today I dropped all that and started actually writing my Pilot script. Way I figure it, the only way to get to know my characters, is to meet them. The only way to know my plot, is to watch it happen. I'm starting to realize I don't really "write" my stories, I just describe something in my head. Got about 8 pages of script done, which equates for about the first 10 minutes of the Pilot.

I'll be posting sample script up as soon as Artican supports PDF uploads (They'd better, when they do.) however if it takes to long, I'll be just posting it as an archive with a cover as my image. Who knows.

Anyways, if your curious about seeing the script, let me know. I'll release copy of it to you.

If I get people interested, I'll be posting more information about this project of mine. So, know if you are interested.

Seeking Concept Artist

Hello there,
My name is Andrew. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am fairly new to Artican, and I quite like it here... Currently waiting anxiously on Literature support. Anyways, I am currently in the process of developing a universe I shall be using in a screenplay (Made for T.V.) and I am looking for a bit of assistance.

I can't draw. Let's just get that out there. I can do planets and star fields... Even some nebulae in Digital Imaging applications. But I can't draw, model, or paint worth a darn. That's where I need you. Now, I don't have money to pay you -- I'm struggling to get the money to enter college myself, but I will happily pay you in favors, ideas, a sway in how the story goes, hell even a character in your honor if you want, anything.

You'd of course, keep your property and maintain full rights. However in the event that this project is purchased, you may be presented with the opportunity to sell your work to whomever buys it.

Still interested? Thank you for that. Below is a basic outline of the universe, a teaser of the plot, and hopefully therein something that inspires you.

A Crash Course on the Universe Today (CCUT):
Humanity leapt to the stars, and with it came new technologies, ideas, opportunities, and conflict.
Mars became our first frontier, it is there we developed the process of terraforming. The key to new habitable worlds, but the process has limits. As humanity grew, Earth could no longer sustain us, we expanded, first to Mars, then beyond.
Alpha Centari became our second frontier, to reach it we developed experimental light-speed travel. A colony was born. But a four and a half year journey was not a viable option. We needed to find a solution.
The first Slipgates were born. Linking the two stars together, they allowed for travel between systems to take days, instead of years. Communication became instant. They were the third frontier.
Since then, humanity has not stopped. We now have colonized over 30 systems, over 65 planets, and 20 moons.
But being so diverse and far reaching has it's consequences. Differences in opinions have lead to shattered factions, and ultimately wars. Inner planets, those close to Old Earth united together to create the Confederation. Those on the rims of civilization have banded together in defense, other clusters have formed under their own banners. The universe has become a strange place from what it once was.

The Plot:
The story will be centered around a small crew of mercenaries as their lives are turned upside down when one of their jobs goes... Amiss. Events lead to one another and the crew must flee from it's home in the Confederation to avoid prosecution as fugitives. Along the way their ideas, morals, and ultimately their lives are challenged.

What this is:
This is not some grand adventure. They are not some highly professional crew. This is not a story of good vs. evil. Their ship is not the Enterprise.
This is a story about a group of quirky, strange people trying to survive and make a living doing sometimes-legal jobs. Their ship is their home, they are like a family, including the conflicts.

Want to know more? Post here, of send me a message, or an email (Andy.hobden (at) gmail.com)... Whatever you want.

Thanks for reading, hope your interested,
